DESCRIPTION

With roots on the island of Santorini since 1870, the Koutsogiannopoulos family has built a legacy of winemaking excellence that spans for five generations.

Varietal Composition:  A largely unknown and hardly tameable variety of crisp and juicy grapes, Mavrotragano beckons you to unravel its secrets.

Harvested mainly from vineyards surrounding the winery, as well as other over 40-year-old southeast plots cultivated under integrated management practices at an altitude of sixty meters.

Cold soaked followed by traditional red vinification at controlled temperatures. Age for 12 months in 500L temperature-controlled French oak barrels.

Tasting Notes: Deep ruby in colour with explosive nose offering a bouquet of ripe black and red fruit, black tea, tobacco leaves and hints of forest floor.

Rich and complex mouth with velvety, well-worked tannins balanced by high acidity.

Long and lingering aftertaste.

Best enjoyed at 16-18°C
